What is Northwest Territories Nominee Program (NTNP)?

In order to immigrate to Canada via Northwest Territories Nominee Program applicants either need to be ready to open, buy or invest in a business in the NWT or have a job offer from a NWT employer.
Northwest Territories Nominee Program (NTNP) works via two streams.

Employer-Driven Stream

This stream is for candidates who have a job offer from NWT employer. It consists of 3 categories.

Entry level/ semi-skilled occupations category

This category helps employers fill positions for entry-level jobs when they are not able to find candidates locally or nationally for a position.

To qualify, foreign nationals must have had a full-time job in the same position with the employer for six months and be in agreement with the requirements of their temporary foreign work permit.

Skilled Worker Category

This category allows NWT employers appeal to skilled foreign nationals if there are not enough workers to fill job roles in the NWT that require formal education, specialized training, or both.

To qualify, foreign candidates must be able to showcase that they have the training, experience and education to meet the needs of the job description. The skilled worker must possess one year of full-time experience in the relevant occupation.

Nothwest Territories Express Entry Category

The Northwest Territories Express Entry category is designed for Skilled Workers who have a profile in the Express Entry System. Express Entry system assists employers to secure skilled foreign workers by fast-tracking applications for permanent residency. The candidate will receive 600 points within the Express Entry pool when approved.

Business Stream

The Business Stream is for candidates who want to start a business or buy an existing business established in the NWT.

The stream has faster processing times, and a support from real people in the NWT which guide applicants through the process from start to finish.
